In this week’s episode of Unfinished Business, filmmaker Andre Joseph rejoins Jeff to discuss “Educators In Film.” Like, movies about teachers and stuff. And the conversation runs the gamut from the Sidney Poitier classic TO SIR WITH LOVE to the Jim Belushi trash fest THE PRINCIPAL. So hold hands, sing “Lean On Me” and get inspired. There will be a test at the end of the term.

Good topic Jeff. What, no Dangerous Minds? The movie that helped popularize “Gangster’s Paradise” and inspired a TV series! It’s funny how forgettable it is now, but in 1994 it was everywhere.
I’m partial to Renaissance Man with Danny DeVito myself. And there’s a movie with Robert Urich called Spooner that I’ve always liked. It may fall into the sports category too; Urich is a forger who cons his way into a teaching job and helps a young wrestler learn to read.
I know Jeff digs foreign movies, so I recommend a French movie called Skirt Day about a teacher who sort of ends up holding her class hostage. The ending is forced, but I like it a lot.
With Andre there, kinda bummed we didn’t delve further into why he likes Sister Act 2!
